The Path

It is by the will of life that we usually walk our paths alone, in darkness and desolation, while infinitesimal flickers of light guide us into perdition. We know not where we are headed, as we know not what life will come to, and it is so that we find ourselves wondering if life is truly worthwhile.

It is important to be able to say "yes, yes, I have walked the path of darkness, and yes, I have found the light!" But light is a mere illusion to the lost and the wounded, and life is a curse rather than the challenge we usually lie to ourselves about.

As clouds entrap us in volatile wonder, and the moon wraps us in the chimera of hope, and we know not hope, and we fear light, we are sickened by life, and the path is everlasting, never-ending, and we feel that Heaven is so far above that we have sunk in the depths of hell.

So yes, we have seen the light, and yes, we have tasted bitterness, and we have run around in circles and forsaken ourselves along the way. We are not guilty, though we are guilty. We are not lost, though we cannot be found. Then, we are gone...
